PROGETTO GENESIS – LA CREMA

Why was the Genesis La Crema created?

MY PROFESSION

My work is in integrative medicine, nutrition and supplements to support medical conditions, and I have studied and applied medicinal mushrooms (mycotherapy) for over 20 years. Medicinal mushrooms are traditionally considered to be very powerful and effective natural remedies for maintaining health and preventing disease, documented and corroborated by a vast body of scientific literature, as understanding their characteristics and potential is the first step towards a well-informed use.

I have written several books on the applications of mushrooms and nutrition to support health, and I run many courses and give lectures at conferences and congresses on the subject.

I am a member of the scientific committee of the Integrative Medicine Research Group (IMRG) https://imrg.it which was set up to create a group of professionals in the field of integrated medicine to share different biomedical skills. Its mission is to conduct research and provide top-notch training and education, crucial in the present day to acquire a thorough and multidisciplinary vision of the main complementary and integrated therapies available today.

I am an adjunct professor at both the University of Pavia (Master of Nutrition Level 2) and IEO (European Institute of Oncology - Master of Psycho-oncology) where I teach nutrition and mycotherapy.

CANCER RESEARCH

The part of my work that has fascinated me most over the years has been cancer research, not just at the molecular biology (epigenetics) level, but also as a metabolic disease, which has led me to search for an integrated support system for people with this condition. Medicinal mushrooms and nutrition, apart from providing general support to the body, have enabled many people to tolerate conventional therapies better and to improve their quality of life and often life expectancy. Working from the inside helped a lot, but there was still one complicated aspect to deal with: radiotherapy and its effects on the skin (burns, ulcers...). Many women undergoing radiotherapy for breast cancer have developed major skin burn problems and also reported intensely painful symptoms. How can they be helped? Working from within was not enough.

SO A CREAM WAS CREATED

In 2016, the first studies were published on how mushrooms, and in particular the beta glucans they contain, activate defensive and regenerative processes in the skin through a process called ‘trained immunity’. The effect of the trained immunity in the skin involves the immune system and also optimises communication between immune system cells and stem cells (cells capable of repairing damage and regenerating tissue) residing in the skin, promoting skin regeneration.

When it encounters problems, our organism acts according to certain priorities, i.e. it first tries to restore the health of the innermost vital organs and only last acts on the skin, which is not essential for survival.
It was important, therefore, to ‘draw attention’ to the skin with a topical application.

This gave rise to the first prototype which gave excellent results. After a few years and many positive results came the suggestion to produce it, putting it within the reach of a greater number of people going through treatment.

This was the start of Genesis, created from long years of experience in using mycotherapy to support health and from its combination with ozone therapy, a treatment that already has a long history of use in cosmetic and regenerative medicine.

Applications

Applications for our cream are therefore diverse:

  • Immunising the skin, making it fresher and younger
  • Optimisation of tone and structure
  • Inflammation and infection control
  • Dermatitis and eczema
  • Acceleration of healing processes with reduction of fibrotic/scar tissue and reduced risk of keloids
  • Prevention and treatment of blemishes and wrinkles
  • Immune modulation and improvement of symptoms of autoimmune skin diseases (e.g. psoriasis)
  • Protection from photoaging (harmful effects of UV)
  • Protection from radiation damage (e.g. radiotherapy)

Due to these properties, it is a cream that acts according to the principles of regenerative medicine, which not only treats symptoms but favours skin regeneration by optimising the coordination and communication between the cells of the immune system and the stem cells responsible for tissue regeneration.
